Necropoli
From September 29, 2025, in order to allow for improvement works aimed at redevelopment and accessibility, the archaeological area of the Etruscan Necropolis of Crocifisso del Tufo will undergo changes to the visitor route.
Only the Antiquarium will remain open, where visitors can admire the artifacts unearthed over the years during excavations. These include funerary goods (which provide important insights into the way of life of the ancients, their customs and traditions, tastes and fashions, as well as the wealth of the deceased and, more broadly, the community to which they belonged). Among the items on display are: Oinochoai (jugs with spouts), Olpai (jugs with circular mouths), Kyathoi (cups with long handles), Kylikes (drinking cups), Pàteres (shallow bowls), Small containers for oils and perfumes, such as the lekythos, aryballos, and alabastron, Weapons, particularly spears for men, Jewelry, such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and fibulae (brooches) for women
The collection includes both locally-made items and imports, such as plain and painted ceramics, bucchero ware, iron andirons and spits, and bronze vessels used for transport and banqueting.
Thanks to new technology—specifically smart glasses—it will be possible (by reservation) to take a journey through time and experience the Necropolis as it appeared in the 6th century BCE, and to “touch” the artifacts in a highly immersive way.
